Cargo ships in and near the harbor
Live positions from AIS, the tracking signal large ships broadcast. Only cargo ships show here. Tankers, tugs, ferries and cruise ships are hidden. Everyone shares one snapshot that refreshes about every 30 seconds. Ships sitting still only report every few minutes, and a ship's type can take several minutes to come in, so the board fills in over the first few minutes. LA and Long Beach is judged by which side of the bay a ship is on, so it's approximate.
