Privacy policy
The short version
PortDrivers has no accounts, does not sell your information, and does not run ads or tracking tools today. This page explains what little information is involved.
What we collect
- Server logs. Our host, Vercel, records standard details when you load a page, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you ask for. We don't use analytics tools, and the site does not set its own cookies.
- Messages you send. If you use the Contact page, we store your message and any name or email address you choose to type in. Both are optional. We do not store your IP address with the message.
- Job listings. If a trucking company posts a job, we store what it enters: the company name, job details, pay, website or phone number for applicants, and a contact email. Once a listing is approved, everything except the contact email is shown publicly on the site until it expires after 30 days. The contact email is used only to reach the company about its listing.
- Alerts to the site owner. When a job or a message arrives, we send a short alert to the site owner's phone through a notification service called ntfy. It has the company and job title, or the first part of a message, with email addresses and phone numbers removed.
- Your language. The site remembers whether you picked English or Spanish by saving it in your browser's storage on your own device. It isn't sent to us.
Other companies your browser talks to
When you use PortDrivers, your browser loads some things directly from other sites, and those sites can see your IP address:
- Google Fonts, for the type on the page.
- jsDelivr, for a video player script.
- Caltrans, for traffic camera video and images.
- Terminal websites, for gate camera images. Each terminal runs its own camera server.
- Google Maps, but only if you tap a Map link.
Links to other websites, including the apply links on job listings, are covered by those sites' own policies.
Information our server fetches
Our server gets ship positions from AISStream, weather from the National Weather Service and tides from NOAA. Nothing about you is sent in those requests. We save public ship identifiers and types in a database so ships can be recognized faster.
Your location
PortDrivers does not ask for or use your location.
Ads
There are no ads today. If we add ads or sponsors, ad partners may use cookies. We will update this page first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Children
PortDrivers is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices
You can ask us to delete a message you sent through the Contact page, or to remove a job listing you posted. California residents: we do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change too.
